Founded in 1991, Lit Moon is a collective of theatre artists dedicated to the development and presentation of alternative theatre.

From the beginning, the company’s artistic work cultivated a physical, image-based performance vocabulary.

Lit Moon produces international theatre festivals, featuring companies from Bulgaria, Russia, Hungary, Poland, France, China, Germany, Canada, the Czech Republic, South Africa, and the United States, and has toured in Bulgaria, Scotland, Canada, the Czech Republic, and Poland.

John Blondell, Professor and Chair of the Theatre Arts Department at Westmont College, is the founding Artistic Director. His 2005 production of Shakespeare’s King Richard II was the most honored Santa Barbara production for the 2005-2006 season, receiving four Independent Theatre Awards, including one for direction.
